R.E.M. celebrate 'Chronic Town' with 40th anniversary reissue

R.E.M. announced a 40th anniversary reissue of Chronic Town.

The band's debut EP was released August 24th, 1982 and followed the release of the iconic debut single "Radio Free Europe," in 1981. The five song EP remains a brilliant and extraordinary listen, even 40 years later.

The 40th anniversary edition of Chronic Town will feature "extensive" liner notes by original producer Mitch Easter and will be released on a double sided picture disc, CD, and cassette. All editions arrive on August 19th, just days ahead of the 40th anniversary date.

For cassette fans: R.E.M.'s official store is offering a limited edition bundle with the cassette AND custom branded cassette player (limited to 500 worldwide). Additionally the store also has a line of Chronic Town merchandise including a limited edition skateboard, hoodie, t-shirt, and more.
